Lately Alden has been drinking his milk and then minutes later, vomits it up again. A lot of people have been giving us theories on why this happens and how to solve it. We've tried their way and it all failed. So today on the 8th of November 2004, we finally took him to a Pediatrician and she examined his abdomen and diagnosed that he may have Pyloric Stenosis.
Pyloric Stenosis
Sound worrying, however, I have researched much on the Internet and it says 2 things:
- It's normal for babies to have this. It's the second most common affliction to babies after hernias. 5 times more common for boys to have this rather than girls.
- It's very normal to go for a minor surgery that involves cutting and correcting the muscle which controls the passage of food from the stomach to the small intestines.
Hah.... well, I have suggested that she expresses her milk into a bottle so that Alden can finish up in about 5 minutes instead of an hour... Milk will go cold, a lot of reasons lah.
Anyways, she's been admitted to Pantai for 1 day of monitoring and observation (technique check on the breastfeeding), so I'll let you know the results after Karen and Alden gets discharged tomorrow.
